VIDEO: A B-1B “Lancer” Executed an Emergency Landing on Rogers Dry Lake Edwards AFB after Nose Landing Gear Failure

Share This > This incredible footage was filmed on Oct. 4, 1989, when the crew of this B-1B found that the nose landing gear would not extend. In consultation with the Air Force and Rockwell specialists, the crew diverted to Edwards AFB where the smooth unpaved surface of Rogers Dry Lake promised a less damaging landing for the bomber. These skilled pilots performed an outstanding emergency landing and earned the Mackay Trophy in 1989 for the “Most meritorious flight of the year”. Watch the video and leave a comment below.
